A few years ago I wrote in Information Week: “The tablet isn’t yet ready for prime-time business usage, and it can’t replace the PC as the company workhorse. Maybe it’s not intended to. Androids and iPads are great for viewing commercial content…” And now it’s detachables that have moved into the enterprise to replace the traditional PC, as reported in Information Week.
In retrospect, I might have been more critical of the role of tablets as a PC replacement. It’s very hard to see into the future, but better if you can than if you are stuck in the present.
